What is it about cardboard and coffee in the morning?
Good Morning Sports Card Lovers & Happy Last Day Of November 2023!
It’s a great time to plan out those last minute write-offs if you do this as a business. Go buy all those penny sleeves, top loaders, boxes and more. I guess you could spend a whole bunch on card inventory too… 😀 come on, it’s justified now, Let’s go! Either way, plan as needed so you can be ready to crush it even more in 2024.
Weekly Giveaway - Congratulations (melrosefire) you were randomly selected and won a 1987 Topps Traded Greg Maddux RC look for a email from me personally so I can get your shipping address.
Below in GREEN you can see the info about the (3 New Collection Leads) for you to explore. These are all off market leads that I generate for you, to help you find collections all around the country. In your area, by travel, or by mail, you choose.
P.S - one lead has a Mickey Mantle signed bat as part of the collection, I seen pics and it looks sweeeeeeeet.
Here’s a Crazy Story about a collection that I bought personally years ago
I get many leads every single day from people who have collections of cards that they are looking to sell. Many years ago someone reached out and said they have this collection that they have had around the house for a long time and they just need to get some money. $300 was the price tag for me to take all these cards that they did not want any more, but I had to meet them right now!
They were not able to send pics in advance because the camera was broken on their phone, but they said it had some good cards they have had for ever. Supposedly their were some Michael Jordan cards and Shaq cards, that was enough for me to say yes… I get weak in the knees when looking at 90’s basketball for some reason.
Later that evening they showed up at a gas station when it was freezing cold out, also after a 1.5 hr drive to meet me. Four people get out of the car, it was like the whole family. The guy says lets go inside the gas station where its warmer, so we did. He goes on to say, I have to get back so I don’t have time for you to look like I said. If you can do the $300 you can have all 5 bags of cards but you can’t look, I have to go.
Well, red flags just went up again and now I am thinking what am I doing. Then he says, you can kind of see some good stuff but I have to go. I did see some cool cards all smashed in screw down cases that were dirty and probably compressed for 30+ years, so I did what any card investor would do.
As you would guess, I took the gamble. $300 gone, 5 dirty plastic bags tied up and filled with old screw down cases, going blind on this one I guess. Don’t worry, this story has a happy ending… I thought they were all fakes or reprints for sure!
Here are my results of the Top 5 cards I sent to SGC the next morning.
Larry Bird Rookie SGC 6.5
Troy Aikman Rookie SGC 10
Barry Sanders Rookie SGC 9.5
Walter Payton Rookie SGC 4
Carl Yastrzemski Rookie SGC 5.5

YouTube - Sports Card Investor this channel is great, more focused on the current hype in the game but still a great channel with top quality hobby info to stay current.
YouTube - Junk Wax Investor here you can learn about the valuable cards that lay in those junk wax stacks or boxes. This channel talks all about the good stuff from the junk wax times. Yes, junk wax still have some value….
YouTube - Chasing Cardboard if like the chase/hunt for sports cards then you will enjoy this show. Its one of my favorite shows, not only because I was going to create the same thing almost, but because its just fun. I was so close to doing this, but couldn’t miss my family. It’s like American Pickers but for sports cards.
eBay - CountryCards here is my eBay store, nothing to exciting but you will see either way, just in case you want to know what I have for sale or connect.
Auction Company - Gem-Mint Auctions Great cards, Great prices. Don’t want to miss out on this site/app. It’s always good to have options with collecting.
SGC Grading - This is my preferred company to Grade Cards as you will come to see in my images that I share. They might not pull the same premium as some others, but I sure do like them.
PSA Grading - As you know, this is another highly recommended way to Grade Cards. The PSA slab is slightly smaller and thinner than SGC, and with different colors.
This is only the beginning, much more to come every week. I may get a small commission from some of these links but you will pay the same.
Collections & Leads For You To Explore
OK, so I imagine this is your favorite part. Here’s how this works. I run special advertising nationally looking for collections. People reach out and say, “hey I have this for sale” I get some basic info and a email in order to share with you. I try to filter the junk out as much as possible and to be completely transparent it’s possible I have interest in some of the stuff that comes up. Realistically, I can’t buy them all and I usually like to buy stuff that is local anyways. I try to stay within a 6-8 hour radius of my location at most in Eastern Iowa.
These Leads below have not been seen by anyone else, they are FRESH and ready for you to explore. Most have came in within the last week.
Southern Calif. - Oliver (77olivergarner@gmail) Mainly Baseball cards but some football, and basketball,I have some in the 60’s 70’s and most of them are in the mid 80’s to mid 90’s, Probably around 100,000 cards, books, old price books, magazines and more.
Salt Lake City, UT - Joshua (cashmere84128@gmail) This has mostly baseball, 1989, 1986, 1990, also have football and some newer basketball.
Central Illinois - Thomas (toberman12370@gmail) Huge collection of awesome cards, memorabilia and more. Mickey Mantle signed bat, Aaron Judge rare rookie auto, and old cards from the 70s too. For sure a solid lead to explore.
