Ever Hear The Story About “Uncle Jimmy's Attic”?

James Micioni, a lifelong baseball fan, amassed a remarkable collection of baseball cards throughout his life. After his death at the age of 97, his collection, which experts believe to be one of the most extraordinary private collections in the hobby's history, was inherited by his seven nieces and nephews. The collection features sets from the 1930s and the mid-20th century in pristine condition, as well as dozens of autographed cards from legendary players such as Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, and Pete Rose.

Of particular note are six Ruth cards from the famous 1933 Goudey set, which have been officially graded and estimated to be worth up to $1 million in total. Micioni had meticulously assembled his collection over the years, even mailing cards to teams in the hopes of obtaining autographs from star players. His family discovered binders in his attic, neatly organized by decade and packed with autographs, including Lou Gehrig's signature on his 1933 Goudey card.

Micioni's family, who had received parts of his collection as gifts throughout their lives, were aware of his passion for baseball memorabilia. They have now decided to sell most of the collection at auction, the family believes that Micioni's intent was always to share his collection with the game of baseball, and they see the sale as a way of returning these treasures to the sport he loved.

This is yet another amazing story from 2020 that confirms, treasures like this are still out there. Keep on hunting and find your own rare cards and collections, so maybe you can be the next big headline…

The Passion For The Hunt Will Always Continue

For many of us, the hunt is the thrill. We get our dopamine rush from hunting, collecting and looking for more cards.

I still get the same excitement when I find collections from the 80s and 90s, even though I know most of the cards will get donated or thrown out. It truly is an ongoing hunt that will continue for different stars, rookies and players who played the game.

Of course the older super rare will keep going up in value, but one day we will hear about these rare collections loaded with 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. rookies, or maybe the 1993 Upper Deck Sp Derek Jeter.

Either way, this newsletter and what I do is all focused on finding more cards and collections to bring back to life and share with the hobby.

The love for the hobby is a really thing. Let’s go! 😃

YouTube - Sports Card Investor this channel is great, more focused on the current hype in the game but still a great channel with top quality hobby info to stay current.

YouTube - Junk Wax Investor here you can learn about the valuable cards that lay in those junk wax stacks or boxes. This channel talks all about the good stuff from the junk wax times. Yes, junk wax still have some value….

YouTube - Chasing Cardboard if like the chase/hunt for sports cards then you will enjoy this show. Its one of my favorite shows, not only because I was going to create the same thing almost, but because its just fun. I was so close to doing this, but couldn’t miss my family. It’s like American Pickers but for sports cards.

eBay - CountryCards here is my eBay store, nothing to exciting but you will see either way, just in case you want to know what I have for sale or connect.

Auction Company - Gem-Mint Auctions Great cards, Great prices. Don’t want to miss out on this site/app. It’s always good to have options with collecting.

SGC Grading - This is my preferred company to Grade Cards as you will come to see in my images that I share. They might not pull the same premium as some others, but I sure do like them.

PSA Grading - As you know, this is another highly recommended way to Grade Cards. The PSA slab is slightly smaller and thinner than SGC, and with different colors.

This is only the beginning, much more to come every week. I may get a small commission from some of these links but you will pay the same.

Collections Leads For You

Here’s how this works. I run special advertising all over the USA, specifically looking for card collections. I get some basic collection info from sellers and a email in order to connect you. I try to filter the junk out as much as possible and to be completely transparent it’s possible I have interest in some of the stuff that comes up. Realistically though, I can’t buy them all and I usually like to buy stuff that is local anyways. I try to stay within a 6-8 hour radius of my location at most in Eastern Iowa. I get good leads everywhere!! NY-CA
